In a rare glimpse behind the visual poetry that defines Dior’s modern image, Brigitte Niedermair opens the doors to her creative universe in Niedermair, Dior. Drawing/Photography — a book that transcends the boundaries of fashion photography and fine art. For more than a decade, Niedermair has reinterpreted Dior’s codes through her lens, crafting images that are simultaneously intimate and monumental, rooted in emotion yet sculpted by intellect.
This new volume reveals, for the first time, the sketches, watercolours, and gouache studies that give birth to her photographs. Nearly 150 images are paired with preparatory drawings — fragments of inspiration and instinct that reveal how the artist’s hand and eye converge to form Dior’s visual identity. Through these works, the dialogue between fashion and philosophy, craft and concept, takes shape with quiet strength.
As Olivier Gabet notes in his introduction, the book unfolds “a panorama of art,” bridging surrealism and postmodernism in a dance of ideas and light.
